Job Overview

The Digital Strategy Director oversees the digital marketing strategies across all of Golden Spiral client efforts related to paid media (search and social), lead nurturing, SEO, and performance analytics/reporting. Reporting to the President/COO, this role builds comprehensive digital strategies and directs the operations around those strategies. Along with those efforts, the Digital Strategy Director helps client teams execute on demand generation programs while reporting on goals and KPIs. 

This role requires an experienced individual that has led, supported, managed, and developed digital strategies and marketing plans. While this is a director-level role, the ability to step in and deploy/develop efforts directly is required. The Digital Strategy Director also has experience leading and developing a team of direct reports. 

At the onset, they will be responsible for managing three direct reports, with continued growth in the department expected. Finally, given Golden Spiral’s focus on Healthtech, there needs to be an interest in the healthcare industry, and as a bonus, an understanding of major platforms (e.g. Epic, Cerner, etc.) and comfort with healthcare industry processes (e.g. understand payor/payee relationship, EHR technologies, etc.).


  • Lead the development of digital marketing strategies and processes
  • Manage SEO, Paid Media/SEM, data + reporting and Paid Social Media direct reports, and oversee the success of these departments
  • Oversee agency automation and digital processes
  • Oversee the development and management of Paid Media campaigns
  • Oversee the development and management of lead nurturing campaigns, including setup of campaign workflows
  • Develop and manage account-based marketing efforts
  • Oversee efforts to create account success metrics and KPIs (Client and GS ROI)
  • Inform and manage the development of keyword analysis and report (Client and GS)
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and support retainer upsell presentations
  • Develop, monitor, report and optimize A/B testing strategies
  • Work hand in hand with accounts leads to support data-focused initiatives
  • Develop regular reporting mechanisms for clients and GS
  • Define and utilize digital marketing tools as needed to perform regular tasks
  • Look for emerging technologies and solutions to contribute to GS growth and expertise
  • Collaborate with Accounts team to develop marketing plans and business reviews for clients 
  • Collaborate with Sales and Accounts team to develop SOW for clients
  • Research latest healthcare and health tech updates, and implement them throughout our client base

  • Minimum of 4+ years managing paid media (search and social)
  • Minimum 2 years of agency experience
  • Experience implementing strategies across digital platforms
  • Past/current experience managing:
  • WordPress websites
  • HubSpot (or comparable CRM and marketing automation platforms)
  • Paid platforms (e.g. Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Facebook Ad Manager)
  • Experience managing marketing teams
  • Experience working with business development lead(s) and sales teams
  • Experience with SEO/SEM tools (e.g. SEMRush, Raven, BrightEdge)
  • Past experience or in-depth knowledge of healthcare practices / health tech is a plus

Hybrid / Remote Work

After going remote due to the pandemic back in March of 2020, we have made the decision to become a fully remote team with an office hub in Nashville. This means that team members are free to live wherever they would like within the United States with no obligation to go to the office or convene in-person, with the exception of pre-defined company activities such as company retreats, workshops, etc. We do have an office that team members are welcome to use as often or as little as they like. Located in the Terrazzo building in the Gulch (700 12th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37204), we have two dedicated office spaces in addition to a shared co-working space. Culture remains a focus, and we provide monthly, optional in-person events that allow our team to enjoy each other’s company. While remote work is available, applicants must be in the US due to the nature of our business and client needs.
